| Wow....I can't put today's events into words.
I had such a blast that I possibily won't forget this day. Today, our Science Olympiad team left for the regionals. The buses were kinda late but still, we got there in time. Max kept complaining that he felt like he was going to throw up on the bus, while Bhargavi was just like O_o. We also had the High schoolers on the bus, which was cool seeing them. Once we got there, we got to our seats, which was in the theatre room. It was pretty big but really uncomfortable, espceically when eating. Anyway, Paul and I left for the Bridge after leaving our stuff. The other bridges impounded (measured, etc.) were pretty bad. One bridge was made of toothpicks while another was made of giant popsicle sticks, over 100g and wide as heck. Christina, Way, Jackie, Ms. Donahue, and Ms. Cherill dropped by to check how we were doing. We got to see a girl present her robot for Robot Ramble. Her robot was amazing, and she had nerves of steel. They kept calling out the amount of time that had passed, but she still kept her cool and didn't rush, which resulted her doing extremely well. Paul and I also saw a bridge built by Community Middle School, which was pretty amazing. It took forever for the bridge to be impounded, so I had to leave the bridge with Jackie and Paul. I went over to Science of Fitness, which Christina had helped me find. Once inside, Matt and I didn't expect much from the event, since we didn't study it. However, we got half of the questions and some of the essay questions. I was so paranoid while Matt was like saying how we did pretty good XD. I was free after SoF, Matt and I decided to check out the Science Center. We saw Christina, who said Max was looking for me. But, right after we got back from the Science center, we ran into Jackie, Christina, and Max who were doing the scavenger hunt. We chatted a bit, then Max, Matt, and I went back to the theatre for lunch, while Jackie and Christina continued their hunt. Once there, we got our lunches out and talked a bit. We also talked to Dorian, who just finished his events. So, all of us including the teachers sat around doing our own thing. I gave Dorian a piece of my lunch (homemade sushi-ish rolls ^_^) who liked it. Soon Harmony came by and kept refusing to eat my lunch. However, both Cherhill and Donahue were like "SO GOOD!" when I gave them a piece XD. Then, Kathleen showed up who was like OOO sushi and was acting paranoid asking, "What did you do?" and stuff like that. As soon as Kathleen ate one, Harmony was like, "I want one" o_o. So, I gave Kathleen one more to give to Shirley, but she said Shirley didn't want it so she ate it. After, Max and I left for Food Science, with our materials. Once there, everything was so hard. We managed to finish the question sheet, but the lab was so hard that we coudlnt' even answer them. We left disappointed, and talked about what we needed to tell Donahue about the event. When we came back, I saw Paul, who was listening to his MP3. Way, CChan, Shirley, Aparan T and N, and the others were playing cards (Pig) on the floor. I stole Way's soda and decided to listen to Paul's music. It was loouuuud T_T. I got bored so I decided to join the card game. The first few rounds, I watched. Soon, Max and I joined in with Jackie, Way, Christina, Harmony, and Alex. We played a bit, with Shirley reading out cards (XD) and Kathleen being her usual paranoid self. Soon, we swtiched to Mafia, but everyone wanted to play so we had to move outside. Once we got everyone out, and as soon as we started to play, they started to announce the awards. Naturally, we scrambled back to the theatre room. First, they annouced the scavenger hunt awards. Jackie won some magnet periodic table thing, while christina won a poster. Then they moved on to the events. The first few events weren't that good, with barely any awards given to us. However, as we went down to like the 5th event, we started to win medals and ribbons. Max got 5th place ribbon in Food Science, Matt got 2 3rd place medals for Rocks and Minerals and Science of Fitness. Christina and Kathleen got 2nd place medals for Wright Stuff. I can't remember the rest, sorry too much excitement to remember XD. I got one 3rd place for Science of Fitness and a 5th place ribbon for Food Science. However, it was when Paul won that we went crazy. He got FIRST place in bridge, beating Montgomery, who beat us last year for first. We were like "YEAH! PAUL! NICE! WOOT!" as Paul and Jackie went up to get their medals. Our school advanced to the State tournaments as 5th place as an overall school. The EB highschool got 4th place, meaning they got a trophy. So, in the end, everyone got a ribbon or a medal. We started to leave, and when we were outside, our highschool took a pic of their trophy. Then we started to get on the bus. We played Mafia on the bus, which was fun and almost got detention because I said "OH $#!T" outloud ;_; . Well, I can't finish the rest of the bus trip, because of HW, but this is defintely one of my highlights of 8th grade and I won't ever forget it. I made so new friends today at the SO and I want to keep winning to get to the top with them. So I will see all you guys at States and stand together as we win it. |
